After, um, over 5 years, I have finally made a new layout for this journal!!! It's a somewhat simple one from tessisamess, but I think that'll let the graphics themselves shine through :D

Also it's purple, I love purple~

On top of that, I went through and added character tags to all previous entries, so now you can filter by more than just the series! idk why I didn't do that from the beginning- I guess I'd been doing it this way for so long that I didn't think to? WHATEVER.

Let's give a belated happy birthday to killiansicons ♥ btw- last month marked 21 years of me making icons. Here's to many more!!!!

Anyway, I'll more icons coming soon; I've been having fun with challenge communities + continuing to be inspired by enstars, so tune back in soon!!! :D

Here's my entry for Round 24 at retro_icontest :D The challenge involved using two screencaps in eight different ways, and I had a lot of fun getting creative with crops/textures/etc to keep all of them looking fresh~

Y'all tired of hearing from me yet? XD Real talk though, it can be hard to find "basic" resources sometimes, especially for icons. So, I've compiled what I'd consider my "essential" brushes into one pack!

It's mostly borders, stripes, dot grid style patterns, and pinwheels/sunbursts - which are all 100x100 - but also includes some smaller hearts/stars/etc and large versions of the pinwheels. These are all things I originally made as I needed them, finally combined in one place for your convenience :D

The download includes both the .abr file (which was made in Photoshop 2020) and an image pack.

Hi and welcome back once again to my quest to teach everyone how to make icons. This time, we'll be switching gears slightly and learning a different icon style: my beloved sparkle graphics *w* I wrote a tutorial in 2006 for a similar style, but I wanted to make an updated version, with the skillz I've learned over the years~

This is much longer than my past few icon tutorials and more complicated. It was written in Photoshop 2020 and assumes that you are decently comfortable using the software already, because there's a lot going on that will be confusing if you don't already know the basics. I don't know how well it translates to other image editing software, since it makes use of a lot of layer styles that I'm not sure exist elsewhere. Sorry D:

Here it is, in the year 2025, my first ever completed mood theme!!! I wanted one to match my new journal layout and enstars is a (relatively) new enough fandom that no one else has made any yet...so here we are! I was a man possessed, which is to say I made this in just over 24 hours XD

Now here's something I'm quite proud of: I managed to recreate an icon I made back in 2011 that I lost the original for shortly afterwards (thanks massive hard drive failure!!!) and I just didn't have it in me to recreate it at the time.

I like how I was kinda like "yeah I made resources back in the 00s but I stopped doing that" because uhhhh...I dunno, I felt like making more? Here's a brand new set of icon bases, including - for the first time ever! - the .PSDs for them!! This should make them a lot more versatile~

Apparently I've been bitten by the urge to write icon tutorials again...which is only really surprising because I'm not procrastinating anything today XD I wanted to bust this out before Halloween, so let's get to it!

And also some other stuff~ Can y'all tell I've been participating in icon centest communities? Because I have, and it's forcing me to think outside my comfort zone (sometimes).

I participated in icon contests a lot when I was new to icon making in the early 00s, and then basically stopped until...last year XD It's been fun to get back into!!!! And I'm glad I've managed to hold onto a lot of my old banners, even if many of the communities are now defunct.

At one point, I dabbled in making resources, and I recently discovered that most of them never made it to deviantart (and thus have broken links from my old hosting). So!! Here we are :D Enjoy some icon-sized textures and brushes from vault- aka, 2006-2007. I did make some fresh preview banners, because I can never resist an excuse to make things sparkly.

All brushes were made in Photoshop CS2 - so they should work with all newer versions - and include an image pack.

Full disclosure: I've been collecting resources for at least as long as I started making icons on LJ, so over 20 years now. Many of these links are dead or no longer contain downloads for resources, but since I still use most of them to this day, I've done my best to track down the most current links I could for them.

This is almost certainly not a comprehensive list. I've tried to keep my resources organized with credits attached, but after over two decades + countless computer changes/moves/etc, I can't be sure I've held onto all of them or remembered what I've used for every single graphic I've made in that time. This is a never-ending work in progress as I acquire more and (hopefully) find old ones I've missed.
